Equity

Equity

Equity is not an abstract principle for me; it is the daily question of who is invited to learn fully and who is asked to shrink. In this workshop, I invite educators, leaders, and staff to slow down enough to see how power moves through their classrooms, platforms, and devices.

We begin by tracing how opportunity is distributed in your current learning environment: whose stories shape curriculum, who has access to high‑quality technology, whose questions drive inquiry. Together, participants map the often‑invisible rules that privilege some students and silence others. From there, I offer concrete practices for re‑patterning these dynamics - rethinking participation structures, feedback practices, and assessment so that students on the margins are not just present, but shaping the space.

Because digital tools can deepen or disrupt inequity, I also open a window into "Virtual Reality: Using VR as a Tool for Equity and Change." Through case examples, you experience how immersive storytelling can center young people whose communities are usually spoken about rather than listened to. We explore how students might build VR experiences that document local histories, challenge dominant narratives, or invite peers to witness realities they rarely see.

Throughout the session, I balance critical analysis with practical experimentation. Participants leave with:

- A clearer picture of how inequity shows up in daily routines and tech use.
- Strategies to design learning experiences where students exercise voice and shared responsibility.
- Ideas for using media and VR projects to amplify perspectives often left out of school discourse.

This workshop is well suited for schools, districts, and organizations ready to move beyond equity language toward shifts in practice that students and families can actually feel.
